Live translation

Real-time translated subtitles over any app on Android

Turn on translation, then open any app that plays sound. Real-time Voice Translate captures the phone's audio, recognizes the speech and shows the original and the translation in a floating subtitle window on top of the app — no need to download the video or share links.

Works with whatever is playing

  • Videos: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Bilibili, online courses, news.
  • Livestreams: Twitch, YouTube Live, TikTok Live and other streaming apps.
  • Games: cut-scenes and voice chat in foreign-server games.
  • Calls and meetings: Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and other call apps.
  • Audio: podcasts, radio, voice messages.

A few apps block audio capture (some paid streaming services do this for copyright). For those, use microphone mode.

Set it up in a minute

  1. Choose languages

Pick the spoken language and your language from 100+ options.

  2. Audio source: "Inside the phone"

Grant the screen-recording permission once. Android uses it to let the app capture the phone's audio. Requires Android 10+.

  3. Tap the floating button

Switch to the app you want to watch and tap the floating button to start or stop translation at any time.

Make the subtitles fit the screen

  • Drag the subtitle window anywhere; it stays on top of other apps.
  • Adjust text size and background opacity.
  • Show only the translation, or the original and translation together.
  • Every session is saved to History so you can read it back later (export with a paid plan).

Microphone mode for people around you

Switch the audio source to Microphone to translate what people in the room are saying — a guide, a lecture, a shop assistant, a meeting. This also works on Android 8–9, where capturing other apps' audio isn't available.

Frequently asked questions

Can it translate audio from YouTube, TikTok, Netflix, games or video calls?

Yes, as long as the app plays the sound on your phone. Choose Inside the phone as the audio source and the app captures the phone's own audio (Android 10+). A few apps block audio capture for copyright reasons — for those, switch the audio source to the microphone and let the phone's speaker play the sound.

Why does the app ask for screen recording permission?

Android only lets an app capture other apps' audio through the screen-capture permission. The app uses it for audio only; it does not record or upload your screen.

How fast are the subtitles?

Subtitles appear while the speaker is talking and are refined as each sentence finishes.

Does it work with headphones?

Yes. "Inside the phone" captures the audio digitally, so it works with headphones and with the volume turned down. Microphone mode needs to hear the sound.

Which phones are supported? Is there an iPhone version?

Android 8.0 and newer. Capturing other apps' audio needs Android 10+; on Android 8–9 the app uses the microphone. There is no iPhone or desktop version at the moment.

What is Smart Translation?

Smart Translation is the online mode. For each language pair it automatically picks the speech engine that works best and switches to a backup engine if one fails or the network drops, so you don't have to choose engines yourself. It is billed by the time you actually translate.
