Frequently asked questions
Can it translate audio from YouTube, TikTok, Netflix, games or video calls?
Yes, as long as the app plays the sound on your phone. Choose Inside the phone as the audio source and the app captures the phone's own audio (Android 10+). A few apps block audio capture for copyright reasons — for those, switch the audio source to the microphone and let the phone's speaker play the sound.
Which phones are supported? Is there an iPhone version?
Android 8.0 and newer. Capturing other apps' audio needs Android 10+; on Android 8–9 the app uses the microphone. There is no iPhone or desktop version at the moment.
Is it free?
Downloading is free and offline recognition is free with no time limit. New users also get free Smart Translation trial time after signing in, and 1 free video translation per day. Online Smart Translation beyond the trial uses voice time from a plan or a time pack.
How many languages are supported?
Translation covers 100+ languages. Offline speech recognition covers 25+ languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish and Vietnamese.
What is Smart Translation?
Smart Translation is the online mode. For each language pair it automatically picks the speech engine that works best and switches to a backup engine if one fails or the network drops, so you don't have to choose engines yourself. It is billed by the time you actually translate.
Why do I need to grant screen recording permission?
It is the only way Android allows an app to capture other apps' audio. The app uses it for audio only.
Translation stopped when I switched apps. What can I do?
Some phones (Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung) stop background apps aggressively. Allow the app to run in the background / disable battery optimization for it, and keep the floating-window permission on.
Can I translate a video file instead of watching it live?
Yes — use the video subtitle translator to get editable subtitles, SRT export and burned-in subtitles.
Can the app dub a video into another language?
Yes — see AI dubbing. Up to 30 minutes per video.
Is my audio stored?
Offline recognition runs entirely on your phone. For online translation, audio is sent to the speech service only to produce the transcript. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I restore my purchases on a new phone?
Sign in with the same account and tap Restore Purchase on the membership page, using the same Google Play account you paid with.
How do I delete my account?
While signed in, open the Me tab in the app and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and its data. Cancel any active subscription in Google Play separately.
